Virginia Louise Adams, 89, a long-time well known Janesville business woman passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Cedar Crest. Virginia was born on May 11, 1922 in Verona, WI, the daughter of William and Bernice (Page) Setzer. She graduated from Janesville High School, class of 1939. Following graduation, she was employed as a legal secretary by the Roethe Law Firm. On March 8, 1941, she married Maurice C. Adams and they founded Adams Roofing Company that year, a business she and her family have operated for the past 70 years. In addition, she and her husband were involved in real estate development in Wisconsin, Illinois, California and Florida. She continued her involvement following his death on March 31, 1999, being very active in and serving as president of the family’s various businesses. In addition to being a great business woman and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Virginia had a great love for animals. “SHE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ALL.”

Surviving are four sons, Maurice A. Adams of Janesville, Stephen T. (Kathy) Adams of Janesville, Ronald G. (Ann) Adams of Loveland, CO, Jeffrey W. (Yvonne) Adams of Milton, five grandchildren, Lisa (Peter) Clark of Janesville, Stephanie Adams of Nevada City, CA, Maurice III (Natalie) Adams of Madison, Emily Utugov of Loveland, CO, Molly Adams of Loveland, CO, two great-grandchildren, Donovan Utugov and Isla Adams, a sister, Gwendolyn Muckler, several nieces, nephews and her special friend and caregiver, Tunga Borkhuu. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Charlotte Frodl and a niece, Virginia Retzlaff.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2011 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville. Private funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. Rev. Carl Seeger of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Edgerton will officiate assisted by Lay Minister Gwen Schultz. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made in Virginia’s name to the Rock County Humane Society or the Alzheimer’s Support Center. www.henkeclarson.com.
